Comprehensive Introduction on Top Five Casting Methods

In our modern times, various casting technologies have been widely applied to various manufacturing industries. Concretely speaking, the most popular casting methods include sand mould casting, metal mould casting, ceramic precision casting, investment casting and lost wax casting. Then, the following will give detailed introduction on above five methods.
 
When it comes to the sand mould casting, just as its name implies, it relies on sand as the moulding material, which often turns to the gravity casting. Comparatively speaking, this casting method enjoys much better adaptability, which is suitable for small, big, simple, complicated and big-batch workpieces. In the very beginning, sand mould casting often chooses wood as the mould. However, the wood mould is easy to be out of shape. Later, the wood one is replaced by aluminum alloy or resin mould that enjoys higher size accuracy and longer service life.
 
Metal mould casting is the second type, which can turn to both gravity casting and pressure casting. The most outstanding advantage is that the metal mould can be used repeatedly. In the meantime, every casting can be gained from every single poured molten metal. In other word, the working life and working life are two obvious advantages.
 
As to the ceramic precision casting, it is based on ceramic slurry, which is made up of ethyl silicate hydrolysate and refractory sand. The refractory sand should have pure disposition and good thermal stability, such as electroquartz, zirconite and corundum. Compared with other casting methods, the ceramic precision enjoys such merits as high surface smoothness, excellent dimensional accuracy, low investment cost and short preparation cycle.
 
Investment casting is a kind of little or no cutting craft. Currently, it is an outstanding technique and enjoys wider and wider application range. On one hand, it is fitted for various alloy castings. On the other hand, the surface smoothness and size precision are much better. What is more, the castings that are complicated, thermostability and intractable can turn to the investment casting.
 
Lost wax casting depends on the full mold that has the same size and structure with the component, which is made from wax. After being dipped into fire-resisting material, it will be dried and poured molten metal. The lost wax casting is a brand-new high-tech that can mould accurately and has no allowance. In the meantime, no use of bonder is also helpful to protect the environment. Therefore, it is endowed the green casting technique in 21 century.
