Comparison of Rolling and Forging and Stamping

Plastic working can be divided into rolling, extrusion and drawing, forging and stamping. Generally speaking, by rolling we will get sheet, strip, and foil products; by extrusion and drawing, we will get tube, bar, wire and section; by forging and stamping we will get all kinds of parts. There are some differences between rolling and forging and stamping.
 
Definition
Rolling is a kind of plastic working method that put metal blank between the gap of the two revolving rollers, and compressed by the rollers, the section of metal billet will decrease, while the length will increase. Rolling is the commonly used method for the production of section steel, plate steel and tube steel.
 
Forging and stamping is the forging technology in forging industry. In the forging process, the operators use forging equipment press on metal billet and finally get the desired forging pieces and stamping parts with certain mechanical properties, shapes and sizes. Forging and stamping are two separate processing methods, and they are the commonly used methods for the production of semi-finished product and mechanical parts. Besides the metal products, forging and stamping can also be the process methods for engineering plastics, rubber, ceramic, green brick and other composite materials.
 
Classification
According to the positions and relative motion of rolled piece and roller, Cylinder Parts - forklift OEM part can be classified into axial rolling, cross rolling and skew rolling. According to the rolling temperature, rolling can be divided into hot rolling and cold rolling. According to the rolling product, rolling can be divided into semi-finished rolling and finished product rolling. According to the shape of the rolling product, rolling can be divided into plate and strip rolling, tube rolling, section rolling and wire rod rolling. According to the forming characteristics of rolling product, rolling can be divided into general rolling, special rolling, periodic rolling, pressure rolling and curving forming.
 
According to the forming method, forging and stamping can be divided into forging and stamping. According to deformation temperature, forging and stamping can be divided into hot forging and stamping, cold forging and stamping, warm forging and stamping, and isothermal forging and stamping.
 
Characteristics
Without annealing treatment, after rolling process the hardness of steel product is quite high (HRB above 90), and the machining property is not very well.
Construction sand casting OEM Parts and stamping can improve metal's internal organization and mechanical property; at the same time, forging and stamping can also save metal material; what's more, production efficiency for forging and stamping is high. But by forging and stamping, we can not get products with complex shapes; what's more, product's surface quality, size precision and shape precision are not high.
